Huey Tonantzin
Huey Tonantzin, “I honor Mother Earth,” comes from the Nahua, the original inhabitants of Central America.
This name called to me – always feeling so deeply connected with the earth, with nature. So thankful for the inspiration she gives me, the creations that flow through me.
Since I was a child I can remember this connection, me playing outside, observing every single plant, every texture, every smell. Receiving dreams at night, flowing into creation the next day.
Whether I’m in the Netherlands or elsewhere, I see the same thing happening.
Exploring other cultures gives me such a rich feeling, getting to know their traditions, their handworks, their techniques, materials, their colors.
This mixture of my passions – traditional handwork from all over the world and nature – is the golden thread you will always see in my work.
